To find out which North American ski resorts are the best, USA TODAY 10Best asked a panel of skiing and snowboarding experts to nominate their 20 favorite resorts – mountains that offer serious snowfall, varied terrain, lots of lift access and all the desirable amenities in town. Readers then weighed in with their votes over 28 days to decide who would rank in the top 10 for the 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards. Scroll to find out which resorts made the cut.

No. 10: Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, British Columbia. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort earns rave reviews and a loyal following for its incredible verticals, champagne powder and unique range of terrain. The 3,486 acres of skiable terrain includes the fourth-highest vertical drop in North America. Skiers and snowboarders have 120 named runs to choose from, with over half catering to advanced and expert skiers.

No. 9: Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont. Divided over two mountains, Stowe Mountain Resort offers East Coast residents and visitors 116 named trails spread out over 485 acres of terrain, much of it geared toward intermediate and advanced skiers. Six terrain parks keep freestylers happy, while four interconnected Nordic areas attract cross country skiers from around the globe.
