Together, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers were part of one of the best Cal football teams in school history. The Golden Bears won 10 games and famously were snubbed by the Rose Bowl, with the University of Texas getting the nod instead.
Sunday, they were on opposite sides of the field as Lynch and the Seahawks fell short in their quest to upset Rodgers’ Packers at Lambeau Field and earn a chance to face the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Following the game, the former college teammates swapped jerseys and exchanged lighthearted banter in Green Bay’s locker room.
“Gimme your f—in’ jersey!” Lynch yelled, laughing, per NFL Media’s Mike Silver.
“Hey,” Rodgers said back, “gimme your f—in’ jersey!”
Rodgers will be returning to the Bay Area to take on the team which infamously passed on him with the No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft. The quarterback, like many fans growing up in Northern California, idolized Joe Montana and the 49ers throughout his youth.
Lynch, whom Seattle brought out of retirement in Week 17 after a litany of injuries at the running back position, continues to be amazed by Rodgers’ greatness at his age.
