The 26-year-old star running back has missed the first four games of the season as he has yet to sign the Steelers’ $14.5 million franchise tender. Bell, however, plans to end his holdout and re-join Pittsburgh during its bye in Week 7, according to an earlier report from ESPN.
The Steelers were reportedly listening to trade offers for Bell earlier in the season and have still not ruled out moving him, according to a report from NBC Sports, which cites an unidentified league source.
Pittsburgh does not plan on rescinding the franchise tender it placed on Bell, that report says.
Bell, a three-time Pro Bowl player, has spent all five of his NFL seasons with Pittsburgh. He rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns in 2017. He also caught 85 passes for 655 yards and two scores.
Bell has been replaced in the Steelers starting lineup by James Conner, who has averaged 3.7 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns.
