Redmond O’Neal was charged with attempted murder Monday, a Los Angeles County district attorney spokesman told the Daily News.
The amended felony complaint was filed three days after police announced late Friday that the only son of late actress Farrah Fawcett and actor Ryan O’Neal was linked to a violent crime spree in California that included two stabbings near the Venice Beach Boardwalk.
The new complaint adds two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count each of attempted murder and criminal threats and misdemeanor counts battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon, DA spokesman Ricardo Santiago said.
O’Neal, 33, was already in custody for allegedly robbing a 7-Eleven at knifepoint on May 8 when detectives discovered he matched the description of their suspect in a wave of random, unprovoked attacks on five men between May 2 and May 5, police said.
Two of the five men were seriously injured. The suspect was described as having the same red hair and “distinct tattoos” as O’Neal, police said.
