After all the trades and free-agent signings, the contract extensions and coaching changes and draft picks, no division showcases the potential for weekly intrigue, for combustion and curiosity, quite like the N.F.C. West. The four teams complement each other nicely, a mix of squads peaking (Rams) and ascending (49ers), transitioning (Seahawks) and retooling (Cardinals), all featuring under-30 quarterbacks primed to have lengthy and productive careers.

“It’s kind of like a couple years back with us and Seattle, how good the two of us were,” 49ers tight end Garrett Celek said. “Now I feel like it’s the Rams and us.”
