President Donald Trump joked with the crowd at his rally in Tampa, Fla. Tuesday evening about not acting presidential, even strutting across the stage to show the crowd he could act like other politicians if he wanted to.
In the middle of his hour-long rally, Trump said it is a “lot easier to act presidential than to do what I do” and he likes to be open and “have a little fun” with crowds.
“Anybody can act presidential,” he said as he jokingly walked over to the microphone then seemed to mimic how any politician would open a speech.
“Ladies and gentleman of the state of Florida, thank you very much for being here,” he said in a robotic tone with a straight face.
Then Trump walked off in a funny manner. “I will leave now because I am boring you to death,” he said.
Trump walked back to the microphone as the crowd laughed.
The president then segued into his popularity and Abraham Lincoln.
“Abe looked pretty presidential, right?” he said. “He’s tough. I admit it, Abe Lincoln is tough, but we love Abe Lincoln.”
He then talked about a poll and asserted that he was the most popular person in the history of the Republican party. Trump has mentioned the poll numerous times over Twitter and in an interview earlier this month, bragging that he beat Lincoln.
